• STEP Fundraiser at Barnes and Noble November 23!

  • Donate your travel award miles to benefit STEP students!

Reading (as well as gifting and dining) are all welcome on Saturday Nov. 23, 2019 at the Barnes and Noble Vernon Hills Shopping Center in Eastchester.  Come to B&N to shop and support the STEP program!  Present the STEP bookfair voucher (click the button below!!) when you check out and your purchase will be credited to STEP.

If you are putting off shopping until Black Friday, you can still support our program through a donation of a travel award.  Every year STEP must budget for flying its scholars home for the holidays and other breaks, in addition to other air travel to recruit students and their families.  We would like to afford our STEP students additional travel opportunities, such as for SHS sponsored trips or college visits.  but are constrained by our budget.  Please contact Anna Decker at asdecker@me.com today to find out how you can help our students as well as take a deduction for your travel award donation.

PROVIDING PROMISING STUDENTS WITH STEPS FOR ACADEMIC SUCCESS FOR OVER 50 YEARS

OUR SCHOLARS

STEP scholars come from underserved communities where their opportunity for rigorous study is limited.

WHAT IS STEP?

Scarsdale's Student Transfer Education Plan(Scarsdale STEP) is a scholarship program supported by the community of Scarsdale, NY.  Its public school system is nationally renowned for its rigorous, inclusive and progressive curriculum.

SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

STEP is a two year college preparatory program for promising students of color (including those of Native American heritage) who may benefit from Scarsdale's challenging academic environment. STEP prepares these students for positions of leadership and responsibilty in their college years and beyond.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT

STEP scholars become part of the Scarsdale community.  They live in the home of a local host family, make new friends, participate in myriad extracurricular and volunteer activities, and enjoy the multicultural New York metropolitan region. The program is supported by community donations, volunteers, and educators who are committed to public service and education in the liberal arts tradition.

STEP celebrated its 50th anniversary in Scarsdale in 2016.  Learn more about our community-wide celebration:  Click here for Scarsdale10583.com.
