The Town of Scarsdale, a municipality in Westchester County, is situated twenty miles north of New York City. Scarsdale is primarily residential, consisting predominantly of single-family detached homes. Its population is approximately 17,000 residents. Scarsdale has five elementary schools, one middle school and one high school. The residents have the use of a public library, and many parks, playgrounds and playing fields. Nationally recognized for educational excellence, Scarsdale High School provides a distinctive curriculum to meet the needs of its talented student population of about 1200 students. Curricular offerings range from honors, AP-level or Scarsdale High School's own “Advanced Topics” classes to basic skills sections for student requiring special instructional approaches. Opportunities for individual study include tutorials, independent study, and interdisciplinary education.
